Casa Del Sagrantino
During the medieval period verdant Umbria had a population nearly five times as large as it is today. Almost every field, copse, olive grove and vineyard had a tenant, a farmhouse a barn and a granary. Due to changes in lifestyle many beautiful houses fell into ruin. Nowadays Umbria is on the rise again, and many of its ruins have seen renovation, restoration and growth but fortunately it remains pleasantly under populated. This farmhouse, which takes its name from the luscious local grapevine, oozes history and it is believed that a building has existed on the site since medieval times.

Poggio Delle Magnolie
Umbria is known as the green heart of Italy. It is easy to see why as its underpopulated tiny hilltop villages have fewer inhabitants today than they did in Medieval times. Views remain as lush and verdant as ever and a combination of mild climate, national parkland and smallscale farming has left large areas looking as they did centuries ago. Tiny olive groves, family sized vineyards, shimmering cornfields and all watched over by sentinel cypress trees it really is breathtaking.

From £1850 to £3725

Villa Due Leoni
The history of the countryside is written in its fields, hidden stone hamlets, bustling towns and lifestyle of each generation. This once tumbledown 17th century structure has long since lost its history but has been born again almost entirely from scratch due to the care and attention lavished by its charming English speaking owners during its long restoration using age old local materials.
